Nord Stream — ELCON supplies electrical engineering for an offshore gas pipeline, 2011
During construction of the Nord Stream pipeline from Russia to Germany, ELCON was entrusted with laying special cables and connecting all measuring points and devices, among other tasks. Testing and commissioning were also part of the contract. Decades of experience with projects in the Russian Federation proved a considerable advantage here.
The Nord Stream pipeline is an offshore gas pipeline consisting of two strings, each 1,224 kilometres long, running along the bed of the Baltic Sea. The route runs from Portovaya Bay near Vyborg, Russia, to the German Baltic coast at Lubmin near Greifswald, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, connecting the European Union directly with some of the world’s largest natural gas reserves in Russia.
